You may be starting to piece together that toxic mold exposure could be contributing to your fatigue, brain fog, skin issues, or chronic symptoms…

Which has led you to wondering — Now what?

Now, in Part 3, we’re diving into how you can take the next essential step and open your body’s foundational drainage pathways and support a gentle, whole-body detox.

Before we dive in headfirst though, let’s do a little recap…

Mold spores irritate the body and trigger an immune response, often linking to chronic inflammation, triggering symptoms within your body. So if Mycotoxins are the inhibitor, wouldn’t it make sense to detox your body of them right off the bat?

In short — no!

Why does Drainage Matter Before Detox?

Before diving into binders, antimicrobials, or “kill” protocols, we must support the body’s natural drainage systems — liver, lymph, bowels, kidneys, skin, and lungs. If any these are sluggish, detox efforts can backfire — leaving you feeling even worse!

Think of it like unclogging a drain before turning on the faucet.

When the body is ready and those pathways are open, you can start gently clearing mold and mycotoxins from your body without overwhelming your system.

Let’s look at where to begin —

But first — Environmental Detoxing for Clean Air and a Clear Head

One of the most overlooked pieces in recovery from mold is reducing daily re-exposure. You may have already remediated mold or moved out — but mycotoxins can still hang in the air and settle on surfaces for months (some reports even show YEARS) after being contaminated!

Here’s what I personally use and recommend:

1️⃣ AirDoctor Air Purifiers

These purifiers use UltraHEPA filtration that’s been independently tested to remove 99.99% of airborne particles as small as 0.003 microns.

What does that mean? This thing can remove mold spores and mycotoxins from the air you’re breathing!

Having an AirDoctor in my bedroom where I spend most of my time (especially on the days that I’m working from home) has been a game-changer for me! I often suggest this brand to clients navigating mold exposure because they truly are that trusted and good. You can run one in your bedroom, living room, or anywhere you spend time. Regardless of where you put one, know this — clean air is foundational to healing!

2️⃣ MicroBalance Health Cleaning Products

These products are specifically formulated to neutralize mold and mycotoxins on surfaces using natural, non-toxic ingredients like citrus seed extract. The EC3 Mold Spray and Laundry Additive are my go-tos for cleaning clothes, bedding, and furniture without harmful chemicals.

Next, it’s time to move into Gentle, Foundational Detox Support

Here’s the truth: detoxing from mold doesn’t need to be extreme.

The body is beautifully designed and naturally equipped to clear toxins — when it’s supported properly.

Here is a step-by-step visual for healing from Toxic Mold Exposure

And though it doesn’t have to be extreme, healing from toxic mold exposure is a journey — a layered one at that.

The goal isn’t to rush into detox, but to walk through a clear progression that honors your body’s natural rhythms. Each phase builds on the last, creating a strong foundation for true, lasting recovery.

So Here are the 7 Steps to Heal from Toxic Mold —

1️⃣ Reduce and Avoid Mold Exposure

Before any healing can begin, exposure must stop. This can look different for everyone — whether that means remediating your current environment, moving, or making strategic changes to reduce mold load.

Ways to do this could include:

  • Using HEPA air purifiers (like AirDoctor)

  • Diffusing essential oils like clove, thyme, or lemon

  • Burning all-natural beeswax candles (though this won’t remove mycotoxins directly, it can reduce toxic burden in the air you breathe!)

  • Cleaning with non-toxic mold-fighting products (I love Micro Balance for this!)

  • Prioritizing time in clean, outdoor air when possible

2️⃣ Open Drainage Pathways & Nourish the Body

Your drainage system — especially the lymph, liver, bowels, and kidneys — must be supported before deeper detox work begins. Without clear exit routes, toxins will recirculate and symptoms can worsen!

What that looks like:

  • Lymph: Rebounding, dry brushing, gentle movement, Epsom salt baths

  • Liver: Castor oil packs, coffee enemas, bitter herbs, dandelion tea

  • Bowels: Magnesium citrate or oxide, hydration, chia or flax for fiber

  • Kidneys: Mineral-rich water, herbal teas like nettle or parsley

3️⃣ Utilize Liver Support, Histamine Support & Binders

Once your drainage pathways are open, it’s time to bring in deeper tools to support your body’s ability to detox safely and effectively.
